It is important to please do this BEFORE your child's first settling in session as it contains all of the information we need to know about your child. Please follow the instructions on each page until you fully complete your parent pack. Please click on the button below to begin.

At Growing Stars Nursery we care for babies and toddlers under the age of two as well as pre-school children. Please read the below information and sign to confirm your understanding and agreement. Please can you kindly complete the following forms to share with us, more information about your child and their routines.

Milk

· We aim to follow each child’s individuals feeding pattern whilst they are at nursery. Parents are asked to share information about their child’s feeding pattern with staff and to update staff as and when there are any changes.

· All bottle fed babies must have a completed information/routine sheet which clearly state the number of feeds per day times of feeds and the quantity (ml/oz.) These forms must be updated at least every month or as and when needed. All changes to the baby’s routine must be recorded and signed by the parents

· According to the Food Standard Agency, Department of Health and the NHS the best way to prevent a baby from becoming ill is to make up all formula feeds fresh, as and when they are required by the baby. Therefore, we will not accept bottles that have been pre-made (With the exception of sealed pre-made milk such as cartons bought from the shop).

· We ask that parents help with this in the following ways: Bring in your child’s bottles for the day sterilised (unless over 12months) and fully assembled with the teat and lid in place. This prevents the inside of the sterilised bottle and the inside and outside of the teat from being contaminated. Provide the formula powder inside its original container, however, we prefer milk powder to be provided in a measured out, labelled container (i.e. 4oZ, to avoid any mistakes). Label to formula container with the child’s full name and date of opening

· Breast Milk- We ask that parents help with this in the following ways: Bring in your child’s bottles for the day sterilised (unless over 12 months) and fully assembled with the teat and lid in place. This prevents the inside of the sterilised bottle and the inside and outside of the teat from being contaminated. Provide the breast milk (fresh or frozen) labelled with your child’s name and the date that it was expressed. (NHS advises breast milk can be stored in the fridge for 8 days and in the freezer for 6 months).

· Cows Milk/Alternative Milk (Dairy-free versions) NHS advise giving your baby formula/breast milk for the first 12 months. Once your child is 12 months old, cows’ milk can be introduced as a main drink. We ask that parents help with this in the following ways: Bring in your child’s bottles for the day sterilised (unless over 12 months) and fully assembled with the teat and lid in place. This prevents the inside of the sterilised bottle and the inside and outside of the teat from being contaminated. We provide whole milk, or any dairy/soya-free alternatives requested.

Food

· Growing Stars Nursery ensures staff wear protective clothing when cooking or serving food

· Prohibits certain foods that may relate to children’s allergies, e.g. nuts are not allowed in the nursery

· Follows the EU Food Information for Food Consumers Regulations (EU FIC) by identifying the 14 allergens listed by EU Law that we use as ingredients in any of the dishes we provide to children and ensure that all parents are informed

· Follows the allergies and allergic reactions policy for children who have allergies or have a reaction at the nursery

· Ensures risk assessments are undertaken on the storage and preparation of food produce within the nursery

Sleep

· We follow NHS and Lullaby Trust guidance to reduce the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)

· Each baby and toddler has labelled nursery bedding which is washed at least weekly and when necessary, this takes into account any allergies and irritation to soap powders and any individual needs. For example if a child prefers to sleep in a sleeping bag, we will ask parents to bring one from home

· All cot mattresses and sleep mats meet necessary safety standards. We use a firm and flat mattress and mattress covers

· Safe sleep guidance is followed at all times, babies are always laid to sleep on their back, with their feet touching the foot of the cot. Children under two years are not given pillows, cot bumpers or any soft furnishings in order to prevent risk of suffocation

· Sleeping children are supervised at all times and checks are completed every 10 minutes. This may increase to five minutes for younger babies and/or new babies. Checks are documented with the time and staff initials on the sleep check form and times are shared with parents on Eylog at the end of each day.

Mobility

What To Bring Each Day

· A small children’s back pack with nappies and wipes and at least 3 extra clothing outfits each day. Can we kindly ask this is refilled each evening, before your child returns to nursery next.

· Please ensure that there is a comforter or dummy in your child’s bag each day, if these are what your child uses to be settled.

· Please bring your child’s bottles required for that day sterilised (unless over 12months) and fully assembled with the teat and lid in place. This prevents the inside of the sterilised bottle and the inside and outside of the teat from being contaminated.
